Louis Vuitton Kensington Derby Shoes

Louis Vuitton Kensington Derby Shoes

Louis Vuitton makes some interesting - and expensive - business shoes. But, are the shoes worth it? Or, are they simply overpriced cash grabs? Let's look at that.

The Kensington Derby shoes are made of calf leather. The front half is from smooth leather. The back half and sides are from LV's textured Epi Leather. This leather also fatures in LV's wallets and bags.

The sole is thick enough without being too thick. It comprises several layers, with the bottom layer adding some cushioning. The bottom sole is partly textured to provide some grip (cf. being flat leather). This makes them relatively easy to walk in. The materials are high quality and feel hard wearing.

How comfortable then are the shoes? Comfort will depend on fit. For me they were wide enough to avoid squashing my feet but they were the correct size to prevent rubbing my heels. Further, the back of the shoes was at the correct height to avoid jabbing my ankles. However, LV's sizing is odd. And, obtaining the perfect fit can be challenging. Whether you find them comfortable will be person specific. However, a common factor is the sole. It provides enough padding that it is comfortable for long periods. However, it also remains solid and supportive. Overall then, the shoes should be comfortable for daily use.

Should you buy the shoes then? The answer will depend on your budget. Louis Vuitton shoes are not cheap. They are noticably more expensive than some other brands - such as Ferragamo - however, they have some benefits. For example, the shoes look interesting due to the leather combination. Further, they are very comfortable (and more comfortable than many other brands, in my experience). But, much will depend on your personal fit. Overall then, if your budget stretches tot he Louis Vuitton shoes, I would recommend them. But, otherwise, you might consider alternatives from Ferragamo, which are often on sale.
